Preparing for a Session with a Medium

Have you ever considered having a session with a medium? Here are some helpful suggestions from my experience going to a public and private session.

I’ve been to public sessions with both John Edward and Theresa Caputo. Both were very interesting and entertaining, but I didn’t get a reading. Then when I was leaving one show, someone told me about a guy local to Southern California named Bill Philipps. First, I went to one of his group sessions at a comedy club. I was impressed, but again did not get a reading. So, I signed up for a thirty-minute session which occurred few months later (now you must wait two years). There were plenty of messages that there was no way for him to know and some even changed the minds of unbelievers in my life.

So, if you are going to go to a medium, I have a few suggestions.

  1. Get a recommendation and, if scheduled, attend a public session. It really helps to get a feel for the person. Also, many mediums have written books, so read one.
  2. If you do it online, make sure you have a quiet space with no interruptions. Whatever software the person uses, make sure you have it installed and working well in advance.
  3. If you go in person, get there early, and put your phone in airplane mode if you use it to record the session.
  4. Meditate before the session about those with whom you hope to connect. Also, think about the guidance you seek. Make a list of your top five questions. Before the end of your meditation, take long, cleansing breaths.
  5. Mediums often speak of a trigger object to help make connections. A piece of jewelry, a letter, or other personal item. Take something, but keep it out of sight. Let the spirit guide the medium to the object.
  6. During the session, keep an open mind. The medium is translating messages from their frame of reference, which differs from yours. It may take a few tries to understand. In fact, I left my session with several items I didn’t understand until I talked to my siblings.
  7. Respond verbally rather than nodding. Don’t be afraid to ask for clarification.
  8. Ask your most important questions from the list you had prepared.
  9. After the session, give yourself time to process what you heard. Discuss it with others who may understand messages you didn’t. That is totally normal.

The truth is, you don’t need to go to a medium to connect with spirits. They are around you and you’ve probably sensed them. Trust your gut. If you sensed you had a connection before that session, you probably did.
